N.F.L. HALL OF FAME
Never Finished Learning (N.F.L.) Challenge Club members are never finished learning. They go above and beyond the normal classroom expectations and challenge themselves to do more than what they "have" to do.
Students that earn 25 NFL challenge points are members of the Hall of Fame. Once a member, always a member. You are a lifetime learner and your name will remain on the Hall of Fame list! The Hall of Fame will be posted here and in our classroom.

B.E.S.T. BOOK AWARDS
B.E.S.T. stands for "Brilliant Example of the Six Traits" and refers to the six writing traits we use when writing stories. Throughout the year, students read and nominate books in each of the six categories: Ideas, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Voice, Organization, and Conventions. The class votes on the winning books. These are our choices for B.E.S.T. Books:
| |
Fall
2007 |
Spring
2008 |
Summer
2008 |
IDEAS:
Ideas are the heart of your piece:
what you’re writing about and the information you choose to write about it. |
| |
ORGANIZATION:
Organization refers to the order of your ideas and the way you move from one idea to the next. |
| |
SENTENCE FLUENCY: Fluent sentences are easy to understand and fun to read with expression. |
| |
VOICE:
Voice is how your writing feels to someone when they read it. Voice is the expression of your individual personality through words. |
| |
WORD CHOICE:
Good writing uses just the right words to say just the right things. |
| |
CONVENTIONS:
Conventions are the ways we all agree to use punctuation, spelling, grammar, and other things that make writing consistent and easy to read. |

BEATTY'S BEST
Beatty's Best is our "Student of the Month" at Beatty Elementary. I think it is important for the class to chose who represents us at the Beatty's Best luncheon. So, each month, students in Miss Powell's class vote on who is Beatty's Best. On the ballot, they include a reason why they chose their candidate.
Beatty's Best, September 2008:
