Students can be on campus as early as 8:25 to play on the playground or eat breakfast in the multipurpose room. The line up bell rings at 8:45. All students are expected to be in line at 8:45. If your child arrives late (after 8:55), please direct them to the office for a tardy slip. We start our day right when we get into our class. HOMEWORK POLICY
Learning does not stop when the school bell rings. Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday and should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. This is an opportunity for students to reinforce the skills we are working on in class. Homework is collected every morning at the beginning of class.
Any class work not finished during the school day will be considered homework. It must be completed (in addition to any assigned homework) and returned to school the next day.
Homework assignments are posted weekly on the "Homework Assignments" page of this site. Besides a description of the assignments, links to test prep and enrichment activities are available for you at home. The "Homework Assignments" page has a link on the home page of this site.

CLASS RULES
I believe an effective classroom teaches each child personal responsibility. Our class rules focus on the positive side of discipline by providing lots of praise, encouragement, positive reinforcement, and rewards while incorporating natural and logical consequences. We have four rules that help keep our classroom an organized and productive place to learn:
- Always be a friend. Students are expected to be kind to others in our room and at school. Negative remarks, name calling, hurtful gestures or behavior, or the destruction of an individual’s or school property will not be tolerated.
- Follow directions the first time they are given. Students are responsible for completing tasks correctly. Students should listen to or read all directions, and ask questions if they need additional clarification.
- Listen carefully. Listening carefully means paying close attention to the speaker, whether it's a teacher, guest speaker, or another student.
-
Work quietly. Please do not disturb others who are working. There are times when we will work in groups or with partners and there are independent work times.

VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are always welcome at Beatty! If you would like to come to our class, just let me know. Some of the activities you can do as a volunteer include:
Classroom Assistant- In the classroom you might lend a hand by copying and sorting papers, assisting with special projects, or meeting with students to discuss books they are reading.
Helping From Home- Cutting, pasting, and typing are some of the ways you can help from home. |

SUPPORTING OUR SCHOOL
Please consider supporting our school through these two easy programs, eScrip and Box Tops For Education.
eScrip is a great fundraiser where participating businesses contribute a percentage of your grocery loyalty cards, credit card, and debit card purchases to our school.
Here's how it works: You register any of your debit and credit cards for use in the program. Then participating merchants make contributions to our school, based on purchases you make when you use the cards you have registered. Your purchases are tracked and available to you online, so you can see how much you are earning for our school!
Register your cards at www.escrip.com.
Beatty Elementary eScrip group ID:141808527
Box Tops for Education is another easy way to earn cash for our school. Just clip the Box Tops For Education logo from hundreds of participating products. Box Tops are worth 10¢ each when our school redeems them. Our class raised about $300 last year! Thanks for all of your help!!!

SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS
Ordering books is a big part of learning to read. I encourage parents
and students to look at these book orders together.
There are two ways you can place an order, on-line or with an order form. To order on-line you will need our user name (misspowells) and password (class). If you would prefer to order with a check or cash, complete an order form and return it with your money in an envelope with your child’s name on it. All books are delivered to our classroom.
